It's been five weeks - Easter will make a solid forty days (plus those Sundays that somehow don't count). There have been a few cheat days here and there - but overall I feel great, haven't craved dairy or cheese (which is big deal for me) and I've been eating tons of fruits, veggies, eggs, fish, chicken, turkey and bacon haha. I have never been so happy to have my own personal supply of almonds as I have on this diet - who knew almonds were such a great snack? :) Anyway - Lent is upon us - only a little over a week left but I think I will definitely keep this diet up as much as I can - we cut out grains, pasta, gluten, processed sugars, etc. I don't believe that it can be a bad thing to cut these things out.

Lent
So, this year for Lent I decided to go Paleo. Kevin decided to do this with me and I can't say that it's been easy, but it has been slightly easier than I expected when we first started out. Kevin's brother, Bryan, has been doing the Paleo diet on and off for the past year or so and has raved about it. I have been working out at the gym I joined (plus all those darn Groupons I bought) and figured that a healthy diet could only go hand in hand with this.

Heather's Wedding
My cousin, Heather, got married in October in Minnesota. The whole family flew out and we had a really fun time. It was a beautiful wedding, Heather looked gorgeous, and everyone had a blast. As you can tell from the pictures, there was no shortage of dancing and fun times to be had. We also had a great time with the kids and Matt and Jill even trusted us to take care of the kids while they were taking pictures after the ceremony. They were very brave :) Congratulations Heather and Nick!
Mt. Baldy 2013
This was the second year I did the Mt. Baldy hike. Kevin was able to come this year. We all had a great time and were able to stay for two nights instead of just one.
Shannon hiked her laptop up to the cabin so she could watch the playoff game - 49ers won and Ravens won - but boo to the Superbowl outcome |
