Quote of the Day

"No opera plot can be sensible, for people do not sing when they are feeling sensible." WH Auden.
Ponder that for a moment.

A Tale of Caution in That Crazy World

Hola mi Amigos,

Well today is more or less just a cautionary tale about how quickly life can change. Apparently this guy I work with, Dene, went out the other night after work to Hermosa Beach and had a few drinks with his friends and then decided to take a cab ride home. Well, as the cab stopped outside his house, Dene asked how much it was going to be and the guy was kind of gruff and rude Dene noticed that there wasn't a meter running or a radio talking about like picking up other people, etc. That's when it got crazy - the cab guy pulled out a gun and stuck it in Dene's face and demanded all his money. Dene of course threw his wallet into the front seat as soon as he could and the guy rummaged around and found the cash and then gave Dene the rest of his wallet back and told him to get out. Now, Dene is okay except for the $300 bucks he lost and of course at least he still has his life so I think he lucked out. Anyway, keep your eyes out for crazy looking cabbies and be safe out there. It's a crazy world and everything can change so quickly - if the guy had wanted to, he could have killed this guy so be aware and appreciate each day! I'm also putting some pictures in just for fun of Kevin and I at a Padres/Cubs game in San Diego a few weeks ago and from Easter when I was playing with my camera settings hehe :)

Long Weekend

I'm back! So I was gone for a few days and I know that all of you out there were very sad that I haven't written another blog yet - but I am back from my long weekend and ready to blog it up.
Thursday Kevin and I drove home to Modesto and went to one of my best friends' rehearsal dinner because Kevin and I were both in the wedding. The wedding was held at The Reata in Oakdale and so we had the rehearsal there and then dinner at the Fruit Yard afterwards. It was really fun and everyone had a great time. There was a slight incident where a dare on how many cherries we could put in our mouth occured - I did not win. I could only fit 7 cherries - Eric (one of the groomsmen) fit 12. Way to go Eric!
Friday Matilda got her hair cut and then we went out to dinner for Father's Day with my dad since I wasn't in town for Father's Day last week. We had dinner at Center Street, it was yummy, then we hung out with Tiff - my longtime friend since the Olive Garden days. Saturday was the big day and the wedding was surprisingly low-key and not too stressful. Ash was really happy and so was Martin so everyone ended up having a great time without anyone getting too emotional or worked up.
Also, after dinner, we decided to do our own interpretation on if we were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, how we would pose for the paparazzi. I think Sherri and I hit the nail on the head. Mom and Dad, however, especially dad, looks a little crazy. But then again, we are a crazy family haha.
Hope everyone out there reading this is doing well . . . over and out.

Jen's Blog

Howdy y'all. Well, since my super cool cousin Matt has a blog and everyone is crazy about it, I thought that I must now do the same. :) So thank you Matt for inspiring me to create my own blog.

I am now living in Redondo Beach, CA. It is a pretty amazing place - the beach is a block and a half from my apartment. My boyfriend, Kevin, lives here with me and we work at the same restaurant too so we end up seeing a lot of each other.

Anyway . . . I just got off work from my 2nd job - 8th day in a row - and so now I'm going to watch Catch & Release. Stay posted as to how I enjoy it, especially since if this is my blog, then I can talk about whatever I want hahaha.
