Jobs!!

Well, I know it's been awhile and I know that I need to post about Australia, but I will have to get to that later.  First I wanted to post something about my jobs I have for the Fall 2012 semester :)

I was lucky enough to be hired for one class at LA Mission.  However, a few weeks later they asked if I had room in my schedule to take another class.  I, of course, accepted.

Then, Santa Monica College called and I was shocked.  They are an amazing school with such a high level of transfer students and thought it would take me years to even get an interview at a school like this.  I was offered two classes :)

Then, Compton College, where I've been tutoring for the past year, came around and asked if I could take on a class.  I accepted and now have five classes for the Fall.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I'm crazy and I'm already ready to pull my hair out (because I'm also still working a few days a week at my restaurant job), but I am so excited and happy for the opportunity.

When I put this down on my 30 before 30 list, I knew it was a long-shot.  I thought, hey, maybe if I put it on my list it'll happen, or it'll be funny like, oh yeah, never going to have that 'real job.'  But, here we are, and I've got five classes and going strong.  I'm not sure how many will be offered to me in the Spring, but at least I now have some experience under my belt and will have a lot to add to my resume for the future!

JJ's Birthday Bash

Yesterday was Jim Joe's birthday and we had a little celebration for him at my place.
Melinda helped out by making a yummy salad

Sherri's birthday gifts to me (since we will be Australia for it)

Their friend Lauren brought us some Foster's to get us ready for our trip

Starting the Buzz game early on

Kiara and Kristie stopped by

Sherri's Mexican caserole

Tie-dyed cupcakes

Sherri and JJ the birthday boy

Uh oh, futon time for Lindy - only one thing that means

CK, Keith, Micky, JJ, Ruse, Erik, Nick and Angie

sleepy time

work-out time

roll your back out time

Kabobs

Then it got serious: dance party

JJ passed out

No cabs were available last night so we definitely turned into hostel Triplett:
Erik on the couch, CK on the floor, Sai on the blow-up mattress

JJ and Sherri on the futon - and Lindy in her own room and bed in the side bedroom haha

Next morning, no reason to stop the party:

Breakfast!  Melinda doing stellar work in the kitchen

Erik chopped up some veggies and now eating a waffle

There were definitely a lot of people periodically falling asleep at this event, as well as the fact that one of the main attractions of the night was the foam roller and everyone rolling their backs out.  You know you're getting older when people are excited to crack their backs.  It definitely wasn't a 21st birthday party haha.

Overall it was a great party and fun times for all who came.  Happy 29th, JJ!

Dodgers vs. Cubs

Friday night we went to a Dodgers/Cubs game and I pulled out my old Cubs shirt but it was pretty small, so Kevin is trying to do me a favor here by stretching it out.

We got to the game pretty early but had nice seats out toward right field.

We went with Tyler, Chris and her friend John from Melbourne, Australia.  Our friends Nick and Anthony were also there but sitting in a different section

John, Tyler, Chris, me and Kevin

Unfortunately, for the Cubs fans, the Dodgers ended up winning

But the best for of the evening (for me) was that we got to see fireworks.  They even let us down onto the field and Tyler brought a blanket so we sat down and enjoyed the show.  It was great!
